Additional Information
How is the flash triggered
with Cord/Cable
· Connected to a camera equipped with PC Sync outlet and triggered
by clicking the shutter of the camera without firing the on-camera flash.
· For camera without PC Sync outlet, you may use the (included)
hot-shoe adapter with PC Sync outlet (Item 6 above) to connect to the slave
flash.
· Note you'll feel some electric static when you connect the sync flash to the camera with cords. This is due to the design of this flash as there's a capacitor in the unit. The static was transmitted from the sync cord inlet. Some manufacturer has made similar sync flash without sync cord inlet to avoid the problem. However we feel the sync cord inlet is so useful that have chosen this model. We've sold hundreds of units and the electric static has not caused any harm.
If you prefer not to use cable instead, we highly recommend these optional wireless solution:
- IR Flash Trigger
- PT04 Radio Trigger
without Cord/Cable
· It can also be triggered by the camera build in flash. There
is a build in flash sensor in this slave flash.
· Please note that this slave flash will be triggered on first
flash. Some digital camera will fire a preflash to measure its white balance
before the main flash, which will cause premature trigger of slave flash
In this instance, you'll need to disable the preflash (possible
only on some camera) or set the flash to manual mode if you're using an
external strobe (like Canon EX550).
· Some alternative wireless trigger method:
- IR Flash Trigger
- PT04 Radio Trigger
How bright is the slave flash and how far is the range?
It is Rated at 45 watt second, guide no. ISO100 @ 28m. Where Distance
x Relative Aperture = Guide Number. At this specs, the power is more than
enough for most indoor photography. Power output is not adjustable,
i.e. it is fixed as 45 watt second.
E.g
if the subject is 2m from the flash, at ISO100, the aperture of f14
will give you the correct exposure (2m x f14 = 28). Open up 1 to 2 stop
with soft umbrella installed.
