AF confirm chip
On all EOS 1 series, the old D30 and D60 bodies, you have to enable the AF switch www.tagotech.com/pic/fixing-chip-6.jpg
(This is not required on all other bodies that does not have an AF switch)
Note this adapter comes with non-programmable chip. For programmable adapter, please purchase the programmable chip and adapter sold separately (sorry we're unable to stick the programmable chip for customers, apologies)

There's no communication between the lens and camera with this adapter.
Aperture and focusing is still manual whether AF or manual lens is mounted, this adapter with chip mainly enables the camera AF confirmation indicator when you turn the focusing ring manually until the subject gets focus.
Descriptions
You are looking at an AF confirm adapter fixed onto a Canon
EOS camera. The lens in the picture is for illustration and
not included in the sale.
All
adapters carry warranty against manufacturer's defects (from normal usage
and not tampered with) for 30 days.
This adapter works on all EOS SLR and DSLR cameras
Background
Canon EOS system is famous for adapting many lenses of other makes
due to its shorter lens to film/CCD distance and wider lens mount.
However, all lenses fit onto Canon body with adapters have to be manually
focus because there is no electrical contact between the lens and the body.
The great thing is metering still function (in manual and aperture priority
mode) but AF indicator is disabled.
When adapting non-nikon lenses to Nikon system, it's the reverse.
AF indicator works but metering don't. However many lenses can't
focus to infinity due to Nikon longer lens to CCD distance, hence adapting
non-nikon lenses to nikon system is not popular.
The Breakthrough
This AF confirmation enabled adapter is an emulator of Canon EF auto-focus
lens. It is an electronic device that will "trick"
the EOS camera to activate 3 great features: 1) Focus confirmation indicator,
2) E-TTL and 3) Selectable metering mode.
With this adapter, we achieve the best of both world (i.e. nikon &
canon). This will be the end of painful focus guessing, and out of
focus picture.

Focusing
With this adapter on your EOS camera, it feels exactly like using the
Canon EF lens set to manual focusing mode. Below is a picture illustrating
the precision of this adapter. However the focus precision can only
be as good as the camera body, the adapter wouldn't turn a digital Rebel
into a 1D.
Now with E-TTL flash Enabled!!!
As many manual lens users are awared, E-TTL does not function properly
with normal adapter. With this proprietary chip module on the adapter,
your E-TTL flash gives you the correct exposure everytime, regardless of
aperture setting of your lens, be it f1.8 or f32.
On certain lenses, FEC (flash exposure compensation) is required, you
only need to do it once when you change your lens. Afterwhich, E-TTL
will perform its role at all aperture settings.
| Trouble shooting tips:
All our stocks are being tested before sending out, please
go thru these troubleshooting guide before contacting us.
1) The aperture value on your camera should display F1.4,
F1.8 or F2.0 (depending on the chip version) with the adapter mounted onto
the camera. Should your camera show F00, it means the chip is not working.
2) Should your camera aperture value shows F00, make sure
that the adapter is properly mounted onto the camera.
a) Fit your lens to the adapter
b) Align the red dot on the adapter to the red dot of
the camera lens opening, push the adapter in, turn clockwise (about 45
degrees) until you feel the 'click', i.e. the lens locking pin on the camera
locks the adapter. Switch on the camera, half press shutter release button
and lookout for the aperture value.
3) Should aperture value still shows F00, remove camera
battery, wait for 5 seconds and re-install battery. Repeat (2) again.
4) Depress and hold the lens release button, twist the lens (with adapter) anti clockwise about 30 degrees, and twist it back clockwise until the lens is stopped, repeat this several times. Mount the lens and check again |
